The Problem
The problem we want to fix is the lack of access to fresh, healthy food in our community due to growing food deserts in Racine. At the same time, we aim to help children develop environmental awareness and compassion through hands-on gardening that supports people, animals, and the planet.
Our Plan
The action we are planning is to expand and strengthen our summer garden by improving soil with compost, adding plant supports like cages and trellises, and providing sensory-friendly gloves for children. Youth will plant, care for, and harvest the garden, with much of the produce donated to marginalized groups in Racine.
