Jane Goodall Institute USA

State: Tennessee
Years on RSYC: 2025-2026

Cash has been committed to freshwater conservation and sustainability since he was six years old. Now a high school student, Cash founded the Wild Earth Defenders organization to engage others in his efforts to address the growing threats to wildlife and ecosystems.

Cash’s main initiative, “Lines of Hope” involves hosting monthly cleanups along the Tennessee River, where he and his team have removed nearly 50,000 pounds of trash.

Cash is a recipient of the 2025 National Geographic SlingShot Award for his “Lines of Hope” project. Additionally, he has worked to place 160 fishing line collection bins across Tennessee and surrounding regions to prevent wildlife entanglement, so far repurposing over 8,000 miles of fishing line into fish habitats. His efforts highlight the importance of preserving freshwater ecosystems and the interconnectedness of ocean and freshwater health.

Outside of Roots & Shoots, Cash enjoys being in nature by scuba diving, hiking, and fishing. He collaborates with Tennessee State Parks and various organizations to amplify his impact.

“You’re never too young to make a difference. Show the world youth voices matter,” Cash emphasizes.
