Carolyn is an inspiring leader dedicated to reducing environmental harm through innovative education and outreach to promote sustainable practices.
Carolyn’s main project, A Sustainable Future, is a paper usage tracking and reduction initiative that engages students to research and implement sustainable paper usage in their schools.
Carolyn educates individuals on the harms of paper overconsumption and advocates for schools to reduce their usage. To spread awareness on this issue, Carolyn shares videos, powerpoints, and materials to empower students to propose paper reduction plans at their own schools.
Outside of Roots & Shoots, Carolyn participates in climate entrepreneurship, and enjoys reading, hiking, Pilates, and finding new places to eat. She is the founder of Anywear Anysquare, an organization focused on environmental and social equity. In college, she studies Data Science and Earth Systems, and is involved in her university’s Sustainable Investing Group.
A Chinese idiom inspires Carolyn: “The prairie fire burns the grass, but the grass will grow again with the spring breeze,” symbolizing resilience and renewal.
