Carolyn is an inspiring student leader deeply committed to environmental action. Already active with Roots & Shoots, she founded her environmental nonprofit in March 2022.
Carolyn spearheads “A Sustainable Future,” focusing on reducing paper use in schools, by engaging students in researching, coding, presenting, and implementing a paper-tracking tool based on their school’s printer data.
Operating in 54 member schools, ASF aims to expand its reach across all U.S. states by the end of 2024.
Beyond environmentalism, Carolyn excels as a Speech & Debate competitor and serves as her high school’s chapter ambassador for Women in STEM. In her leisure time, Carolyn enjoys reading, hiking, and yoga.
For inspiration, Carolyn turns to a Chinese poem that roughly translates to: “The prairie fire burns the grass, but the grass will grow again with the spring breeze.”
