Today, we had our first event in Dr. Jane Goodall’s honor. It felt like a Godwink that it happened to land on the same day as Dr. Goodall’s memorial service. The area we worked on had lost over 100 cottonwood trees due to their natural life cycles. We spent the day planting over one hundred saplings in the marshlands. During our lunch break, we read about Wangarĩ Maathai’s Green Belt Movement and learned that the trees we were planting are so much more than just wood. We look forward to our next event with the wonderful team at Lake St. Clair Metropark!
