Tampa Bay Hope in Action 27

Dr. Jane Goodall continues to inspire all of us here at Roots & Shoots, and we know many of you feel that way, too. More than 8,000 of you joined us to hear her speak in September 2024, as the culmination of our first Tampa Bay Hope in Action event.

We carry Dr. Goodall’s legacy with us to Hope in Action 2026. Join us at the University of Tampa’s Plant Hall for:

  • FREE Environmental Expo featuring 40 Tampa Bay-area organizations
  • Environmental Action Summits for upper elementary, middle and high school students
  • Keynote presentations by Jasmin Graham of Minorities in Shark Sciences and Julie C. Henry and Tasman Henry, authors of Wisdom from the Wild for Youth: Leadership Tales with Tails
  • Private screening of Disney and Pixar’s latest release “Hoppers” for Summit attendees

High School Environmental Action Summit (grades 9-12)
Friday, February 27, 10:00 am–2:30 pm, University of Tampa

Youth Environmental Action Summit (grades 4-8)
Saturday, February 28, 9:00 am–1:00 pm, University of Tampa

Young conservationists are invited to share, envision, and inspire a bright future for Tampa Bay and its surrounding cities.

Building on the success of the 2024 event at Tropicana Field, this year’s events will immerse students in an exploration of the Tampa Bay watershed and inspire them to take meaningful action to protect and improve our natural environment.

Students can participate in interactive workshops led by local environmental experts, connect with nonprofit organizations, and explore green career pathways in the Career Corner. They can meet like-minded peers and possibly bring back exciting new ideas to their schools or clubs.

High School Environmental Action Summit (grades 9-12)

Friday, February 27, 10:00 am–2:30 pm in Plant Hall at the University of Tampa. To arrange for your school to participate, contact Bonnie Eaton, beaton@janegoodall.org.

Youth Environmental Action Summit (grades 4-8)

Saturday, February 28, 9:00 am–4:00 pm in Plant Hall at the University of Tampa. Students in grades 4-8 with a parent/chaperone are invited to attend the Environmental Expo and private film screening for FREE. They may add the keynote presentation and Inspiration Stations for $10 per child. Younger siblings are also welcome!

Environmental Action Days

March 7-8, 2026. Whether you or your child take part in one of the environmental actions summits or you’re just a Tampa Bay-area resident who wants to get involved, this weekend is for you! Take action to protect and improve our natural environment by signing up for one of numerous service projects hosted by mission-driven organizations who are part of the Roots & Shoots Alliance. Bring your family, your friends, or your co-workers and show your love for Tampa Bay by volunteering for a service project.
