Our mission is to empower young people to affect positive change in their communities. You can help build a better tomorrow. It starts right here. Right now.
The Roots & Shoots Model focuses on best-practices in Service Learning to grow compassion and action in young changemakers. Together, we're growing a movement.
Anyone, anywhere can make a difference for people, other animals, and the planet we share. Get started by exploring and creating your own community project!
Roots & Shoots groups are working to affect change, right here in Los Angeles. Local groups are fighting food insecurity, planting native gardens, and protecting wild spaces. The Los Angeles Roots & Shoots Basecamp supports Roots & Shoots groups by providing mentorship, resources, and facilitating collaborations with local environmental and community organizations. Individuals or groups are encouraged to get in touch to learn more about starting a Roots & Shoots project.
Roots & Shoots Project Grants support community projects that help animals, humans, and the environment we all share! Young people, educators, individuals, and group leaders in the Los Angeles area (Los Angeles, Orange, or San Bernardino counties) are invited to apply for a $250 Project Grant to start, support, or celebrate their Roots & Shoots project.
Being part of the Los Angeles Basecamp connects you to a supportive community of fellow changemakers who think local and act local! With access to tools, guidance, and opportunities, we can help you take your project further. Here’s what we offer:
Community & Collaboration – Meet and work with other changemakers in Los Angele to share ideas and team up on projects.
