The Problem

In Mazimbu, Morogoro, water sources are facing pollution and drying due to deforestation and soil erosion near rivers and wells. At the same time, local schools have very little shade and are affected by dust and hot sun. Many community members, especially youth, are not aware of the connection between trees, clean water, and a healthy environment, leading to continued cutting of trees.

Our Plan

We will plant 200 native trees around water sources and in two local schools in Mazimbu to prevent erosion, provide shade, and improve water retention. We will form a youth environmental club with university students and secondary students to care for the trees and monitor their growth. We will also conduct 4 community awareness sessions on water conservation, proper waste disposal near water sources, and the importance of forests for clean water.
