The Problem

The problem we want to fix is the growing disconnect between young people and the environmental impact of everyday waste and consumption. Many students lack access to engaging, hands-on climate education that helps them understand how single-use materials, overconsumption, and throwaway culture contribute to pollution and environmental harm in their communities and oceans. Too often, discarded materials are seen only as trash rather than resources that can be reused, redesigned, or repurposed. This limits opportunities for youth to develop creative problem-solving skills, environmental awareness, and sustainable habits. Green Made Easy addresses this challenge by empowering young people to rethink waste through hands-on design, creativity, and collaboration. The project encourages students to see themselves as environmental changemakers capable of transforming discarded materials into new ideas, functional creations, and community-centered solutions for a greener future.

Our Plan

To host an interactive, hands-on youth workshop that combines environmental education, creativity, and sustainable design practices. Through guided activities and collaborative design challenges, participants will work with discarded everyday materials—such as plastics, textiles, paper, and packaging—to explore creative ways to reuse, redesign, and repurpose waste. Youth will rotate through curated “waste boxes” representing different waste streams and engage in activities that encourage problem-solving, teamwork, and systems thinking. Participants will transform single-use and discarded materials into functional objects, artistic creations, and storytelling pieces while learning about waste reduction, responsible consumption, and environmental stewardship. The workshop will create a fun and inclusive space where young people can build environmental awareness, strengthen creative confidence, and develop practical sustainability skills that encourage long-term action in their homes, schools, and communities.
