The Problem

We will increase the number of native pollinating plants into the Hamilton High School gardens that surround the school. Many of the plants in our courtyards and surrounding areas are invasive or not supportive to our native pollinators. Plants that are in the courtyard include Bamboo and Amur Honeysuckle. Our steps for this will be to remove as many invasive plants as possible by removing them and using pesticides to ensure they do not grow back. After removal, we will fill the empty space with native plants. This project will help the students who attend HHS by allowing them to see native plants more often in their daily lives. This project will help support native pollinators by bringing in more of their food source such as milkweed.

Our Plan

1. Remove invasive species 2. Replace newly vacant area with native plants that support pollinators such as milkweed
