The Problem

Schools are one of the largest public sector consumers of energy, producing the equivalent of 18 coal-fired power plants or 15 million cars each year. Some districts have pre-established sustainability resolutions but lack practical implementation, or that the efforts made are not of public notice for feedback.

Our Plan

Through the assistance of Climate Citizen's Lobby, we aim to: 1. Research and assess data on district energy use, transportation emissions, and current sustainability initiatives to identify gaps between policy and practice through meeting with school board members; 2.Create a platforms for students, parents, and staff to learn about sustainability goals and give feedback on district actions; 3. Advocate for concrete measures such as transitioning to electric buses, piloting solar panel installations, participation in stewardship events and promoting clean energy in general; 4. Encourage districts to publish public-facing reports and campaigns to track progress, celebrate milestones, and hold the district accountable to its commitments.
