The Problem
Communities in Southwest Atlanta face challenges with food insecurity, loss of intergenerational connections, and limited agricultural education for youth. Seniors hold valuable farming and cultural knowledge, but too often it goes unshared, leaving younger generations disconnected from their roots. At the same time, children have fewer opportunities to learn hands-on gardening, sustainability, and entrepreneurship skills. These gaps contribute to weakened community ties, less access to healthy foods, and missed chances to preserve history and cultural traditions.
