The Problem

Bridging the gap in access to STEM resources

Our Plan

Through Science4Students, I have always aimed to make a STEM education more accessible. To this end, I used my funds to create activities for the Boys & Girls Club in Lawrenceville, NJ, Urban Promise in Trenton, NJ, and the Ewing Public Library. This year, I was able to significantly expand the range of experiments I did - I added pH Testing, a NASA-exploration based escape-room, oobleck, and memory metal to the mix. Going to Princeton University, the disparity between Princeton and the other towns in Mercer County has always been clear to me, and during my time here, I want to do my part in bridging the gap in educational opportunities, and these projects have been my way of doing that. I have also used my funds to ship materials to students across the USA that I work with through CoachArt; CoachArt is an organization that pairs tutors with children with chronic illness. I have worked on DNA extraction, coding, and chromatography experiments with my students this year. Lastly, I hosted an event for students on campus, highlighting the science of beauty & skin care products - we had perfume-making, foundation & color theory, and henna workshops. Since I started this project in 2021, I have delivered over 1000 kits. I have also hosted a Taylor Swift Science Fair and a Wicked Science Event, attended by over 300 students!
