The Problem

At Hobbs Community Farm, the bones of a wheelchair accessible space exists. We want to enhance the infrastructure and include perennial plantings that regenerate year after year.

Our Plan

The Blooming Connections project seeks to transform and expand the existing wheelchair-accessible Ephraim's Garden at Hobbs Community Farm into a multi-sensory pollinator garden that doubles as an innovative eco-arts space. This thoughtfully designed environment already features raised beds at various heights, accessible pathways we will add dedicated zones organized by sensory experiences—touch, smell, sound, and visual stimulation. By integrating carefully selected perennial pollinator-friendly plants with an accessible outdoor art studio, the project creates a unique inclusive space where participants of all abilities can engage with nature through artistic exploration. The garden will serve as both living classroom and creative inspiration, supporting pollinator conservation while providing natural materials for eco-art activities like botanical printing, natural dyeing, and texture-based creations. Through this holistic approach, Blooming Connections nurtures environmental stewardship, artistic expression, and community building in one accessible, sensory-rich environment that celebrates the profound connection between nature and creative human experience.
