Here is how the project went:

The project went very well and exceeded my expectations. I was able to create a variety of toys and accessories that were well-received by both the animals and the shelter staff. It was incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact of my work and to know that I helped make the animals’ time in the shelter a little brighter.

Through this project I/we learned:

Through this project, I learned how small, creative actions can make a big difference in the lives of animals in need. I also gained a deeper understanding of animal behavior, the importance of enrichment in shelter environments, and how sustainability and compassion can go hand in hand. Most of all, I learned that helping others whether people or animals can inspire and bring a community together.

What I/we might change:

If I did this project again, I might expand it by involving more volunteers to create a larger number of toys and accessories. I would also consider partnering with local schools or community centers to host workshops, allowing others to learn about animal welfare and contribute to the cause. This would help increase both the reach and impact of the project.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

My favorite part of this project was seeing the rescued animals interact with the toys and accessories I made. It was heartwarming to witness their curiosity, comfort, and joy. I also loved learning more about animal care and sharing my experience with others in the community. Knowing that my efforts made a real difference was incredibly rewarding.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

A great tip for others interested in this kind of project is to use clean, recycled materials like old T-shirts, towels, and jeans. They are soft, durable, and easy to turn into toys. Braiding fabric and adding crinkly textures can make the toys more engaging for animals. Also, reaching out to local shelters for guidance ensures your creations meet safety standards and truly benefit the pets in their care.
