The Problem

There are many homeless animals in our town, but stray cats are everywhere. Our Girl Scout Troop wants to help the local animal shelter to provide food and a warmth for them until they find their FURever homes!

Our Plan

Our troop wants to collect and purchase food, blankets, beds, and toys for the animals at the animal shelter, especially for the cats. Our troop plans to match money or donations of items.

Here is how the project went:

Good! Scouts learned a lot about the needs of cats and dogs in our community. They loved shopping for the donations and spending time with the animals!

Through this project I/we learned:

Scouts learned that it is expensive to provide food for animals, and it is hard work to take care of them. Scouts learned that our community has many more stray cats than dogs and the importance of getting your pet fixed.

What I/we might change:

Make more social media posts requesting donations and explaining the importance of microchipping and fixing their pets.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

Visiting the animals at the shelter!

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

The community reacted to our after-donation photo saying that they would have donated, but when we just made a post with words asking for donations it got less responses. Our tip, use photos!
