There is an abundance of litter on our school grounds and the surrounding neighborhood. We want to beautify our campus and our streets by actively engaging in road clean ups, campus clean up and recycling as well as a campus beautification!
A scheduled weekly road/neighborhood clean-up benefiting the community as well as the nearby elementary school, Boys and Girls Club, and Public Library. A daily clean-up of our school campus, with items then being sorted by students and recycled or place in trash bins. Our students would also like to beautify the front of the school with landscaping, mulch and flowers.
The students absolutely loved cleaning the campus and the roads around the school. We received praise from school administrators as well as community members in the neighborhood. Students felt proud and the experience was rewarding.
We learned about the negative effects of pollution both aesthetically and for the environment.
Id like to venture out to other areas of town. Beaches, roadways, schools, nursing homes
Most favorite part was hearing the kids talk with excitement as they were cleaning and beautifying the roads and school.
The vests were great! Pickers were very good-- the use of buckets on wheels was helpful. We also used wagons to separate plastics from trash.
