The Problem

The problem we want to fix is the burn scars in Kula, Kihei, and Lahaina due to the 2023 Maui wildfires. So many native plants were lost in the fires, and without trees and plants to hold the soil in place, the Kula watershed area will end up running off into the ocean. Also, people living in the burn scars need new plants for shade, beauty, and food.

Our Plan

The plan is to create a Seeds of Joy club for kids across Maui to come together to plant 1,000 new trees and native plants in the burn zones of Kula, Kihei, and Lahaina. The club will meet every other week and will include a monthly planting project.
