A passionate environmentalist, Zara combats plastic pollution through education, advocacy, and the written word.
Zara’s website, WhatThePlastics.com, raises awareness about plastic pollution and funds organizations addressing this issue.
Zara is dedicated to protecting the planet by combating plastic pollution. In fact, her family vacation pictures often feature an extra family member—a bag for trash pickup. Zara has also authored Turtle’s Plastic Troubles, a children’s book that cultivates environmental literacy in youth. She hosts discussions and readings to inspire her audiences to integrate sustainability into their lives.
Recently, Zara received an Ambassador Level U.N. Community Service Award for spending over 175 hours as an environmental steward through service. Outside of Roots & Shoots, Zara is a soprano at her local university’s school of music and participates in clubs at her high school. She also enjoys rock climbing and baking.
A quote that inspires Zara is “I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.”
