Raised in Huntington, New York, Victoria is continuing her education in her home state, and she is passionate about helping people in her home country of Mexico and raising awareness about the beauty of her culture. During her time on the council, she has used this platform to advocate for the rights of Indigenous women in Mexico, and to support nonprofits and small businesses that provide livelihood opportunities for these women. One of Victoria’s favorite projects that she worked on with the RSYC was called “Books for Change,” in which they donated books to children’s hospitals and cancer research centers. Currently, Victoria is working in partnership with FXB Climate Advocates to raise awareness about climate change, through everything from studying the biological components of a special type of seaweed called sargassum to advocating for sustainable practices in local communities! Victoria is also very interested in fashion and her favorite way of de-stressing is adding to her Pinterest board of sustainable fashion.
