Roots & Shoots Group: Utah Roots & Shoots
Sierra is a freshman from Sandy, Utah. This is her second year on the National Youth Leadership Council. Her favorite Roots & Shoots project has been researching earthquake risk in her community and advocating for the equitable protection of school buildings, as many of the most at-risk schools are in low-income neighborhoods. Sierra is also passionately protecting the canyon near her home from development and working on local air quality issues. In addition to serving on the NYLC, she is a member of the Youth Council for Envision Utah, a local nonprofit that helps community members make responsible decisions about how Utah grows. In her spare time, Sierra enjoys hiking and climbing, playing volleyball, and singing with the One Voice Children’s Choir.
