Serena is a determined wildlife conservationist, researcher and talented nature photographer.
Serena’s current project is researching and implementing a green roofing pilot program at her university with a group of students seeking to make an impact.
The roof would use vegetation on part of the school’s roof to provide natural shade and insulation. Serena has also investigated bird conservation through sustainable urban development and advocated for bird-friendly glass legislation in Boston.
For the past two years, she organized a successful food drive for GoodAllDay, raising hundreds of dollars for area families in need, and continues to support native pollinator gardens. Outside of Roots & Shoots, Serena is a leader in a campus environmental education club, conducts conservation research, and volunteers at a local nature center. She enjoys hiking, playing guitar, and photographing wildlife.
On what gives her hope, Serena says: “Seeing the amazing work my fellow R&S members are doing demonstrates how much people care, and this truly inspires me.”
