Oona is an activist driven to make her community—and the world—a healthier place through strong environmental policies. A Roots & Shoots member since 2020, Oona is involved in multiple climate advocacy groups, including as a social media manager and newsletter writer, as well as leading a legislative campaign to eliminate harmful pesticides.
Oona currently helps conduct research on old growth forests in collaboration with the Harvard Forest Schoolyard Ecology program.
The research is sent to Harvard and contributes to efforts that help our forests thrive. She says, “it has taught me about the importance of our forests in combating climate change and helped me appreciate trees in a new way.”
Oona’s favorite thing to do is backpacking. She stays active through outdoor sports like windsurfing and snowboarding in her free time and running on her high school’s varsity track team.
