Matt is deeply committed to social and environmental advocacy in his community.
Matt’s key project involves collaborating with the Music Academy for Special Learners to
use arts education as a tool for inclusion and advocacy.
As a caregiver for a family member with special needs, he finds this project particularly
meaningful. Matt has also supported recycling initiatives and worked to promote sustainability in
his hometown.
In his free time, Matt enjoys cooking, listening to music, and fulfilling family responsibilities. He
draws inspiration from his experiences as a first-generation Hispanic American and a caregiver
for his sibling with special needs.
Matt takes inspiration from his favorite Jane Goodall quote, “Only if we understand, will we care.
Only if we care will we help. Only if we help shall all be saved.”
