Chloe channels her passion for clean water into actions that benefit people, animals, and surrounding ecosystems. Amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chloe initiated Roots & Shoots projects in her community, securing a Roots & Shoots project grant to support a local climate action program.
Chloe’s current Roots & Shoots project involves hands-on research at a local pond investigating the native vegetation and the impacts of phosphorus runoff.
The coalition advocates for cleaner waters based on their research findings. Apart from her green initiatives, Chloe has discovered a newfound interest in architecture, leading to an internship with a regional preservation organization. She also engages in debate club at her high school, plays tennis, works out at the gym, and finds joy in playing the piano.
Chloe’s advice for other young changemakers echoes resilience and hope: “Finding small joys in everything you do, connecting with loved ones, and setting realistic goals can help maintain hope during challenging times. Remember, you’re resilient, and tough times don’t last forever.”
