| Biography |
Tanuj Samaddar is the Country Lead for India at Climate Change Writers, an artist, youth leader, and public policy enthusiast. A recipient of the Pradhan Mantri Bal Puraskar from the President of India and the Karmaveer Chakra Award by UNDP, he has also been honored with the title of Kentucky Colonel—the highest civilian award of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Tanuj is currently associated with IIT Guwahati and the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Government of India, contributing to research and policy initiatives.
He has served as a Global Youth Advisor in the Global Youth Advisory Council, Zimbabwe, in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and is an active member of the Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) Working Group of YOUNGO-UNFCCC, the Commonwealth Youth Climate Network (CYCN), and UNESCO’s Inclusive Policy Lab. His dedication to youth empowerment and advocacy has earned him a nomination for the International Children’s Peace Prize, a Fellowship at the Royal Society of Arts, and recognition from the Government of Assam, which nominated him for the state’s Assam Gaurav Award, its third-highest civilian honor. He is also associated with the International Women’s Peace Group, Busan Branch, South Korea. He has been a UN Delegate, representing India on behalf of YOUNGO in the Conference of Subsidiary Bodies (SB 62) 2025 at Bonn, Germany hosted by UNFCCC. He has also been conferred the coveted Billion Acts Peace Fellowship 2025 and UN Millennium Fellowship respectively. He also serves as a Commission Member in the Commission on Economic, Environment and Social Policy at IUCN and has been selected as a Country Delegate to represent India in the upcoming World Conservation Congress, Abu Dhabi.
