John Prokes is a science teacher at Bear Lake Schools with a background in environmental consulting and a lifelong passion for protecting Michigan’s ecosystems. Since 2008, he has taught Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics while mentoring students in robotics, athletics, and community projects. Recognized as a Michigan Science Teachers Association “Science Teacher of Promise” and a Manistee County “Excellence in Education Mentor,” John is dedicated to empowering young people to connect science, leadership, and service. His commitment to environmental stewardship and student growth makes Roots & Shoots a natural fit for his work.
