We are seeing Monarchs flittering around Ventura, California (north of Los Angeles along the coast; we have a number of overwintering sites here). It appears that the warmer weather has brought them out to nectar. We are learning about native milkweed. Here in our area, Narrowleaf (asclepias fascicularis) and Kotolo (asclepias eriocarpa) grow native along the coast. So to learn more about them, we’ve been germinating seeds from the Native Plant Society (Theodore Payne) and growing starts. Also planting native nectaring plants. I’d love to hear about other’s projects.
