Hi I am Maiya and I am a freshman at Anderson High School in Austin, TX. I am really passionate about the environment and the impacts that we as humans have made on the earth. I got really into this topic ever since I started scuba diving with my dad. I started realizing all the pieces of plastic that are littering the coral reefs and how these reefs are dying over time. Ever since, I have wanted to create some sort of change so I can play a part in improving the deteriorating environment. When I am older, I want to be an environmental lawyer so I can advocate for the environment, who is not given a voice.
