We are vigilant to report poaching and exploitation of Incilius alvarius – Sonoran Desert Toads by people who use them for new age highs from their hallucinogenic glandular secretions.
We reported the unlawful placement of deadly difethialone anticoagulant rodenticide rodent traps by an Arizona pesticide company in our wildlife corridor. This misapplication of poison was without authorization or permission endangering children, pets and wildlife. We opened casework with Senator Kelly, Congressman Raul Grijalva and Congressman Cuscomani about this serious violation. Governor Hobbs, an environmental attorney was also informed. We hope to restrict the use of difethialone as it is not being applied responsibly. California restricts its use as stated on the label. Arizona Game and Fish indicated that one can poison wildlife and they do not consider rodents protected wildlife while there are rare, endangered and threatened rodents in Arizona that are teetering on the brink.
