Youth and Women Initiative for Sustainable Development (YWISD)

Youth and women initiative for sustainable development (YWISD) is a non- profit community based organization with people centered, community and empowerment projects to youth and women in areas code named as hard-to-reach. It’s committed to positive empowerment of mothers and youth to bridge the gap of gender inequality and unemployment in Wakiso district through life-long and self-sustaining projects in Uganda. YWISD is registered by Wakiso district local government on 27th November 2017 working under registration NO. WCBO/17/168. Its office is located 9miles on Mityana road near pine town estate, Bulaga village in Busiro east sub-county, Wakiso district, Uganda.

The formation of YWISD was out of passionate young graduated development practitioners who wanted to increase women participation in productive roles, reduce the increasing number of unemployed youth, bridge the gap of gender and economic inequalities, reduce school dropouts among other pressing community challenges of youth and women in Uganda and Wakiso in particular. This is through innovating and framing of programs that incubate various projects leading to sustainable development in community.
