| Biography |
Hello! I have been so fortunate to teach second grade at STEM Launch for the last 3 years. STEM Launch is a Title I school in Thornton, CO that focuses on problem-based learning that immerses students in real-world problems and engages the help of experts to build background knowledge so that students may iterate viable solutions. We have worked on problems from the growing wild horse population to the plastic pollution problem. Our student population includes over 70% of students who are emerging bilinguals, and I’ve seen the work of problem-based learning be a meaningful way to build student engagement and real-world application of skills. As a teacher, I love embracing design thinking in our classroom so that students realize how creative and innovative they are! This next school year, I’ll be moving up to teach 3rd grade. It will be my 4th year of teaching! I’m looking for ways to continue to develop students’ love of science and their problem-solving mindsets!
