Our mission is to empower young people to affect positive change in their communities. You can help build a better tomorrow. It starts right here. Right now.
The Roots & Shoots Model focuses on best-practices in Service Learning to grow compassion and action in young changemakers. Together, we're growing a movement.
Anyone, anywhere can make a difference for people, other animals, and the planet we share. Get started by exploring and creating your own community project!
As Florida’s largest open water estuary, the Tampa Bay area comprises miles of shoreline and a unique ecosystem. The Tampa Bay Basecamp of Roots & Shoots supports youth-led efforts to restore and protect our environment, as well as the animals and people who live here. In September 2024, we worked with the Roots & Shoots Alliance to host the area’s first Youth Environment Summit, followed by an inspiring talk by Jane herself. Individuals or groups are encouraged to get in touch to learn more about starting a Roots & Shoots project.
Roots & Shoots Project Grants support community projects that help animals, humans, and the environment we all share! Young people, educators, individuals, and group leaders in the Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough, Pasco, or Pinellas counties) are invited to apply for a $250-$500 Project Grant to start, support, or celebrate their Roots & Shoots project. Before applying, please discuss your project idea with Bonnie Eaton, Tampa Bay Basecamp Coordinator, beaton@janegoodall.org or 202-763-8313.
The Roots & Shoots Alliance is a coalition of Tampa Bay area environmental organizations and educators working together to inspire youth action for the environment.
