Roots & Shoots By the Bay

Roots & Shoots Tampa Bay and Keep Pinellas Beautiful invite you to join a project already in motion! Join other middle and high school students to restore shorelines, reduce pollution, and encourage safe boating practices.

Dune Restoration Committee

Students are hosting native habitat restoration events within the Tampa Bay watershed, designing and distributing educational materials highlighting the importance of native plants, and creating an interpretive sign to inform visitors about the vital ecological functions of dunes.

Litter Prevention Committee

Students are creating episodes of the Super Rosie comic strip designed to educate children on the harmful effects of litter and the importance of minimizing single-use items and properly disposing of waste. To reinforce this message, students hosted three cleanup events throughout the watershed.

Marine Education Committee

Students are learning about safe boating practices to help prevent seagrass scarring, reduce manatee injuries, and minimize marine pollution. Next, they'll design educational materials and lead outreach events at local marinas to educate boaters.
