***CLIMATE CHANGE CHAMPIONS – 3RD CHALLENGE ***
This week we’re going to save electricity! It is both expensive and using it when it’s not needed is not good for our planet. Here are some ways you can help:
1. Turn off the light when you’re leaving the room.
2. Replace your light bulbs with LED bulbs (more energy saving).
3. Use natural sunlight from windows instead of lamps sometimes.
4. Take shorter (or cooler) showers. Your hot water heater uses electricity.
5. Unplug things you don’t use very often so you aren’t using residual energy. Examples: if you have a bouncy house and don’t use it often, unplug it when you’re not using it. Unplug your video game console or toaster if you don’t use it every day.
6. Wear cooler clothes and ask your parents to bump the temperature up a couple degrees to use less energy.
7. Don’t use your oven as much in the summer. Use the grill or make salads, etc.
8. Hang your laundry to dry so you don’t use energy with your dryer.
9. Only run washer when you have full loads of laundry.
10. Use wool dryer balls or a dry towel in the dryer to use less time to dry.
Please let us know if you have more suggestions!
Great ideas!
