Oona is an activist driven to make her community—and the world—a healthier place through
strong environmental policies.
This past year, Oona organized and led the Westchester Youth Climate Summit, which
brought together over 100 area students to explore climate mitigation projects.
She continues her research on old growth forests with the Harvard Forest Schoolyard Ecology
program and is investigating the health effects of Beech Leaf Disease. Oona uses her
knowledge to advocate for legislation to eliminate harmful pesticides.
Beyond environmental work, Oona runs on her school’s varsity track team, participates in the
Sunrise Movement, and serves on the U.S. Youth Action Council for the UN Ocean Decade.
She also enjoys backpacking and dance.
Inspired by her peers, Oona shares: “Hope in the face of climate disaster does not come by
sitting and waiting; it comes by doing.”
