The Problem

Access to high-quality STEM education and shadowing opportunities for students from low-income families in Southern California are insufficient. This furthers the disparity between students attending schools of varying funding levels and access to opportunities.

Our Plan

As a developmental biology lab, we have various techniques that students can practice - including, but not limited to, specimen collection, whole-mount imaging, and dye staining. Importantly, the techniques performed with the students will be chosen to ensure appropriateness for age and area of interest. Additionally, we will provide mentoring to students preparing to apply to college, this includes help with personal statements, preparing the necessary documents, etc...
