The Problem

Africana Understandings students will learn about Africana (African, African American, Caribbean, Latin America) history through film, literature and dance. The emphasis will be on dance such as hip-hop, salsa, tap, and swing. Bringing history to life for a new generation of students by reawakening and re-imagining Africana understandings and influential histories through dance, film, music and literature. Students will take center stage in this club as they learn about the music, culture, dance techniques, literature and history from the Americas, Caribbean, and Africa. Giving adequate instruction in the emergence of cultures past and present will have special significance in my school because of its rich mix racial and ethnic group
