“I am very passionate about our environment, after all, it is going to be my home for the rest of my life, so I desperately want to keep it clean and protect it.”

Roots & Shoots History: Four years with Roots & Shoots
Roots & Shoots Group: GreenTeens101
Rhea is a Senior from Morganville, New Jersey. This is her second year on the National Youth Leadership Council. She completes Roots & Shoots projects, such as her single-use plastic awareness campaign, with her group GreenTeens101. In order to educate consumers, Rhea and her friends attended events and stood outside stores to discuss the importance of reusable bags and even give some away. Rhea’s favorite project has been the Homework Brigade, which she created during the COVID-19 pandemic. This project addressed the difficulties of learning from home by connecting younger students with volunteer high school tutors. When Rhea is not raising awareness about how plastic consumption impacts the earth and working on projects, she enjoys reading, dancing, playing the guitar, and listening to music.
