Kate is a Junior who lives in Los Angeles, California. This is her third year on the National Youth Leadership Council. Her favorite project has been a youth lobbying project for a gun control bill because it was amazing to see their hard work pay off when the bill passed! Her Roots & Shoots group has done many different types of projects, including beach clean-ups, a toy drive, and a diversity march to educate students at her school about issues like microaggressions, false biases, and stereotypes. Kate is deeply passionate about working to prevent gun violence and protecting the environment. In her spare time, you can find Kate rocking out with her band on the drums or playing tennis with her school’s varsity team.
