The Problem

Plastic, Plastic Go Away is a semester long coordinated effort to reduce the use of plastic on our campus and raise awareness of the importance of reducing our plastic footprint. This project will especially target the use of bottled water.

Our Plan

Using Take Back the Tap as inspiration, the group will approach the project in three phases. The first phase will be to build awareness around the community. The group will engage in a Bottled Air Sale, a Tap Water v Bottled Water Taste Test, staff an informational table at lunch for a week, and provide videos for students to watch in Advisory. The second phase will be a fundraising campaign to raise money to provide reusable water bottles to people in our community either free or at a reduced cost and a pledge drive. Group members will circulate through the campus for a week and get signature of people who pledge to do without bottled water. The third phase will be community action. The group will host an All School Meeting in April and then a Beach Clean Up / Volleyball tournament to build community and further reinforce the dangers of plastic as it related to our ocean friends.
