As a parent, you want the best for your child. Academically, you want her to excel in school and to develop better lifelong learning skills that will improve her education now and equip her to enter college or the workplace later. Socially, you want her to have friends and connect with other children in positive ways, so that she grows to be a sensitive, caring and compassionate adult. Civically, you would like her to be aware of the world beyond her immediate experience—including knowledge of and respect for other cultures, other ethnicities and other beliefs. The Roots & Shoots approach to service projects helps your child in all three areas: - Because your child seeks information to help design and conduct her projects, her intellectual capacity for thinking through and organizing problems and solutions is stimulated.
