Roots & Shoots Staff to Present at TEDxBuffalo

Date:
Thursday, October 4, 2012 - 2:30pm

Roots & Shoots' Adrienne Bermingham will be presenting at TEDxBuffalo on Tuesday, October 9.

TED is a global platform devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. TEDx events are locally organized events that focus on individuals and innovation in various cities. Click here to learn more about TEDx events.

TEDxBuffalo: The World in Our Backyard will bring together the change-makers of Buffalo, New York to present and share ideas about improving the region. The individuals organizing and participating in this event believe in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world.

Adrienne, a Buffalo-native, will be speaking about the participatory community mapping that the Jane Goodall Institute uses in Eastern Africa to assist with land use planning and conservation. She will also focus on how Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots is using this same mapping methodology to inspire young people to create similar conservation plans for their own communities.

Passionate about her hometown, Adrienne hopes to remind the people of Buffalo that when it comes to our community, we are the experts. Inspired by the incredible work of the Jane Goodall Institute and Roots & Shoots, Adrienne and the TEDxBuffalo audience will ask themselves the question: Where can WE influence change in our community?
