Dr. Jane - Grand Marshal - 2013 Tournament of Roses®

This New Year’s, the Roots & Shoots network is looking forward to celebrating 2013 and Dr. Jane’s role as Grand Marshal of the 2013 Tournament of Roses®. In front of a worldwide audience, Dr. Jane’s message that every individual can make a difference will be spread to hundreds of thousands of people around the globe. 

And because Dr. Jane loves Roots & Shoots so much, and in part was chosen to be the Grand Marshal because of Roots & Shoots, all of our efforts and impact will receive great recognition. That’s pretty neat!

The theme for this year’s Tournament of Roses® is “Oh, the Places You’ll!” from the famous Dr. Seuss book. The focus is both on how important it is to find your passion and follow your dreams. That’s exactly what Dr. Jane did, and what she encourages all of us to do. The theme also recognizes the Tournament’s efforts to become more sustainable through waste-reduction and general green practices throughout the the Rose Bowl, Rose Parade and associated festivities.

In honor of 2013, and this year, the Tournament of Roses®, let’s all do some fun activities together to celebrate!

Here are some ideas:

• Catch the Tournament on TV - watch the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day. Check your local listings for air time.
• Check out these family-friendly projects to make your home more sustainable.
• Join the fun in Pasadena - if you're in California for the Tournament of Roses® wear a bright shade of yellow to show your Roots & Shoots colors!
• Make a donation to support Dr. Jane’s mission to grow the next generation of environmental leaders.
• Text CHIMP to 20222 to donate $10 in honor of Dr. Jane as the Grand Marshal.

From Pasadena to your family rooms, we’re so glad that Dr. Jane has this opportunity to spread her message so far and wide through this year’s Tournament of Roses®, and we hope you’ll join in the fun!
